WELCOME TO MONETT MIDDLE SCHOOL!
Cub Pride Article (May 19, 2017) by Dr. Jonathan Apostol, Principal
What a year it has been at Monett Middle School! We are blessed to recognize excellence in and out of the classroom! Some of these recognitions included the following:
Communication Arts - Several students placed in the LAD Fair (Language Arts Department); select students attended the Ozarks Writing Conference to enhance their writing ability.
R180 - Students in this reading intervention program exceeded their individual growth goals that were set at the beginning of the year.
Science - Both 7th and 8th grade students displayed the products of the scientific method at the second annual digital science fair!
Functional Skills Students - Students have participated in the recycling program at MMS and have provided birthday waffles as a monthly student recognition.
Art - Student artwork was displayed at the Youth Art Month at the State Capitol; several students placed at the Big 8 Art Show in Cassville with one of our own students winning Best of Show.
Robotics Club – The club placed in different meets; one team was recognized as Judges' Choice at one of the qualifying events.
Student Council - The MMS chapter was recognized as an Honor Council, exceeding the criteria needed for recognition. Ms. Barker was selected as Advisor of the Year for the SW region of MSCA.
National Junior Honor Society - Nineteen students were selected as new inductees for the 2017-2018 school year; NJHS participated in a variety of service learning opportunities to benefit organizations.
Awareness Day/Health Activity Days - Mrs. Farr and Mrs. Holman have organized this annual event to provide awareness and healthy activity options to students.
These are just a “tip of the iceberg” of the great things that happened at Monett Middle School!
As we wind down in the final week of school, our students will attend the AR field trip, celebrate the Spirit Stick competition, take part in the MAP celebration, attend freshman orientation at MHS, compete in MMS field day, perform at the MMS talent show, and recognize student achievements.
I wish everyone a safe and restful summer! See you on Tuesday, August 15, 2017; it is right around the corner!
